Chocolate Yogurt French Toast Roll-Ups

Choosing whole-grain bread is healthy for your body but also for the environment. Grains use only 0.5 liters of water per calorie of grain, while the same amount of beef requires 10.19 liters. This is a small step, but it is still a step closer to reducing the ever-increasing number of carbon emissions in our environment. The more water we save, the lower the energy cost and the cleaner the atmosphere. For this recipe, I used whole wheat bread, which is just one of the whole-grain bread options for a more sustainable diet. All the different types of bread, brands, and labels can be overwhelming, so here's a good list to start with!

Ingredients

French toast roll-ups

8-10 slices whole wheat bread

3 tbsp almond milk

2 eggs

Chocolate Yogurt

2/3 cup plain yogurt

1 tbsp chocolate protein powder

Cinnamon Sugar

3 tbsp granulated sugar

2 tsp cinnamon

Procedure

Yields:8-10 roll-ups

1. Mix yogurt with chocolate protein powder until all the protein powder has been integrated and reaches a creamy, smooth consistency. Set aside.

2. Cut the crusts from the slices of bread, flatten them with a rolling pin, and add 2 tsp of the yogurt mixture 1 inch from one end of each slice. Roll them up tightly.

3. Whisk together the milk and eggs and dip the bread rolls, fully coating them.

4. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt 1 tbsp of butter. Place the roll-ups seam down, letting them cook for 2 minutes per side.

5. Once cooked through, immediately add the rolls to the cinnamon sugar and roll until they are completely covered.

6. Delight in the fullness of God’s creation as you eat your healthier French toast roll-ups.
